Astuvansalmi Rock Paintings (47 km)
Located on the shores of Lake Yövesi, Astuvansalmi is home to the most extensive collection of prehistoric rock paintings in the Nordic countries – dating back around 5,000 years. The site is reached via a 3 km nature trail starting from the Suurlahdentie parking area, suitable for families with children. Neitvuori Hill (24 km)
Neitvuori is one of the highest hills in Southern Savonia, offering breathtaking views on clear days. You can choose between two hiking trails: the 4 km “Hiijje Silimukka” and the 12 km “Hiidenkierros”. More information about Neitvuori is available here.

Sydänmaa Hiking Trail (7 km)
This approximately 6 km trail offers steep climbs and varied terrain, making it ideal for more experienced hikers. Along the way, you’ll find the Rakokallio nature reserve with an impressive rock crevice formed during the Ice Age – be sure to bring a flashlight! Read more here.

Repovesi National Park (98 km)
Repovesi features a total of 45 km of hiking routes for all levels. Popular options include the 3.5 km “Ketunlenkki” and the 26 km “Kaakkurin Kierros”. Explore Repovesi National Park here.

Cycling Routes

The Mikkeli region offers a variety of cycling routes suitable for all levels of riders. One of the most popular is the 90 km Luonteri Cycling Route, which passes right by our hotel. The trail features diverse terrain and includes a ferry crossing. You can also cycle to nearby Ristiina or visit the Astuvansalmi rock paintings.

We also recommend the Puumala Archipelago Route, a 60 km circular trail that winds through the islands of Lake Saimaa. The route includes ferry crossings and offers stunning lake views along with opportunities to explore local attractions. Learn more about the route here.
